Training Your Dietitian Staff for ICU Coverage

This 3-4 hour workshop is designed to help prepare dietitians who usually do not work in the ICU setting, to begin doing ICU coverage. Content includes the medical/ICU treatments needed to understand how to identify critically ill patients, assess levels of organ failure, and apply nutritional therapy. Pertinent nutritional issues are discussed including nutritional requirements, parenteral and enteral feeding for ICU-specific situations (e.g. proning, septic shock, non-invasive ventilation), and current national and international guidelines. Information can be made specific to your hospital’s ICU, using your institution’s flow sheets and feeding protocols. This workshop is live and can be done in person or virtually. Workshop fee is variable as course content and deliverables are customized to your institution's needs. Please contact Michele to discuss how this workshop can help your dietitians meet the needs of your ICU settings.
